Labor Day Weekend
Over the weekend, we went up to Blackfoot, ID for the Eastern Idaho State Fair. I didn't really know what to expect because I don't remember ever going to one. The weather was also supposed to be all over the spectrum. So, as usual, I packed a shirt or two for me and Shawn, and the rest of the bag was full of Odie's things that "I might need". It did get stormy Sunday and Monday but lucky for us, we have a furnace in our camper (I know-it's not really camping). Also, Oakley decided to take long naps both afternoons when it started raining. We joined him in the camper and by the time he woke up, the rain had also, so we got to go back to the fair.
We went up there mainly because Shawn's dad was (still is) judging the draft horses. Shawn would love to get paid to go to the fair. It was a really fun show. We also got to see my first ever Indian races These are horse races where the riders (usually Native American) ride bareback for a lap, jump off and switch horses for another lap, then jump off and switch horses again for the third and final lap. They can be very dangerous with so many "loose" horses. We did see one guy get taken off in an ambulance. I think he got kicked in the kneecaps. For one of the horse races, we decided to go watch the horses come out of the gates. That was neat to see. Odie got sprayed with dirt, though. There was a big clod of dirt that got kicked up and was headed toward the stroller, but I didn't worry about it because the sun shield was down. Murphy's Law, though, it hit right where there was a screen and broke up into tiny pieces and sprayed him all over. I'm still picking dirt out of his ears. I think my all time favorite part, though, was seeing the hypnotist show. He had two shows a day, too! Those never get old.
Oakley loves being outside, so camping is very enjoyable for him, and therefore, us. He loved sitting up on our bed to watch us make breakfast down below. He loves being able to see everything that's going on. Even when we're holding him, he has to have his back against your stomach so he can see in front of you.
Below is a quick video of him chatting. He'll talk to anything and everything all day long. Thi was just a quick clip before he started getting upset.

He seems like such a good tempered baby! He is also getting so big and chunky! I am glad he was good at traveling and camping, it makes life so much easier when baby is happy!!
