My Gigglemeister

So, I decided to update everyone on my little man...and by everyone, I mainly mean my poor family who is so far away from him!!!

1. He's huge for his size! I just measured and weighed him today (which is obviously just a close approximation, but I'd say it was a pretty good guesstimate). He weighed in around 16 lbs and is 26 inches long. His socks (3-6 month size) haven't really been fitting him, with the heel part hitting about where his arch should be, so I decided to measure his feet. I used the chart on the back of one of his shoe boxes, and he measures in at a size 4. Which, for those who don't know...that's a typical 9-12 month old!!! Where has my little baby gone?! He's not even 4 months old yet!

2. He still LOVES being outside-no matter what the weather. I sit him under a tree and he'll sit and watch me mow the lawn and do yardwork for hours. If he starts getting upset when we're indoors, all we have to do is step outside until he calms himself down. It's gotten to the point now that he quits crying the second we move towards the front door! He's just like a little puppy...boy do they learn fast!

C. He jabbers all the time now, and is also discovering his tongue in the process. He's always got it out blowing spit bubbles. His voice is so high, though. It makes me laugh because it sounds like I gave birth to a girl :-) He's also been giggling for the past couple of weeks, but the above video was the first time I was able to capture it. (I think in some parts he was starting to get upset with me, but it still sounded cute!)

4. He loves sitting up...I finally broke down and bought him a Bumbo (it's a really cool chair-google it) because he get so mad if he's not sitting up watching whatever's going on, and I can't hold him all the time. He's also a lunger. I set him in my lap while I get ready to feed him, and he does a few crunches, then has enough momentum to attack! It's so funny to watch.

E. I've got my work cut out for me because he's definitely an oral baby. It doesn't matter what he's sucking on, as long as he has something in his mouth. He loves his binki (which Shawn and I call the mute button), his index and middle finger on his left hand, or his thumb on his right hand. Most of the time, he'll have the binki in his mouth, then try to get his fingers and thumb in his mouth from the sides, and then get mad and scream when the binki falls out!

6. He's sorta kinda sleeping through the night. Most nights, he'll go to bed around 9pm and wake up between 3 and 4 to eat, then go right back to sleep until 7 or 8. Other nights, however, he wakes up at midnight, then 3, then 6... and Murphy's Law, it's normally on days that I need to work. Or, maybe I just notice it because I need to work-who knows.

7. I've been trying to expose him to a lot of things to get him used the them. He loves dogs-even though most dogs are weary of him (little people scare me,too). He also spent an hour the other day watching Shawn on the tractor at his parents house. He didn't mind the noise or rumbling at all. I don't know what I'd to with a stressed out baby that couldn't handle being stimulated that much.

Overall, we've really lucked out because he is a fabulous, easy going baby. The only time he gets upset is when he's hungry and he issues a verbal warning, then I have about 20 seconds to get him satisfied! Man, it's fun.

Our babies do have some Cox in them! They also have very similar interests like being independent and having something in their mouth all the time. Marc calls his binky the shuts him ups some. They are going to be such cute little buddies when they get bigger! That cracks me up that Shawn couldn't tell the difference-typical guy! I can't believe how fast Oakley is growing. I thought Casen was pretty tall for his age but they have the same show size (4). Good luck with his independent spirit...just wait until he starts throwing real tantrums.

Can I just say how crazy it is for me that you have your own baby? You've always been a natural with kids......but your own? How is this possible..DON'T ANSWER THAT! I miss you and am so excited to peek in to your new life. Your family is beautiful, however you have a few to go to catch up with me! May I suggest taking it slowly, (unless you plan to start drinking?) love ya!!
